个人简介
Currently researcher (fixed-term contract since 2012 and permanent staff from 2019) at the CNR-ICB Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry of Pozzuoli, Napoli (Italy), I have been working on NMR spectroscopy applied to metabolomics since 2004. I received the Graduation in Physics cum laude from the University of Napoli "Federico II" in the 2006 starting my experiences with the metabolomic study of the apoptotic process induced by ionizing radiation in MG-63 human spheroids by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy. During the triennial PhD period (2006-2009), I worked on the development and implementation of new spectroscopic tools for high throughput analysis in metabolomic investigations. The purpose of the PhD research activity was to explore the recent NMR improvements by applying and developing new metabolomic strategies for biomarkers discovery, including NMR data handling, peaks quantification and fast data acquisition. I received the Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of Napoli "Federico II" in 2009, defending the PhD thesis “Development and Application of Advanced NMR Techniques for Biomarkers Identification”. From 2009 to 2011 I worked as post-doctoral position at ICB-CNR on different metabolomics projects, practising with the acquisition of mono- and multidimensional NMR experiments at high-resolution NMR spectometers, the processing and the quantification of spectral data; in particular, I strongly stressed the analysis and spectral signal assignments of metabolic profiles arising from different kinds of biological samples: microalgae and microorganisms, in vivo cells, cell and tissue extracts, biofluids (blood, urine, saliva, respiratory condensate). Moreover, I gained deep experience in the field of multivariate statistical analysis applied to different biological issues, by making large use of unsupervised methods as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and supervised techniques as Projection to Latent Structures Analysis and the relative Discriminant Analysis (PLS, PLS-DA, OPLS, OPLS-DA), the use of filtered methods and statistical models for data prediction and integrated dataset (i.e. Transcriptomics/Metabolomics). The main area of interest and expertise includes research activity in the clinical field of hepatic tumorigenesis (Paris et al., 2010) and airway diseases (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cystic fibrosis) as reflected in diverse publications (de Laurentiis* et Paris*, 2013; Montuschi* et Paris*, 2012; de Laurentiis* et Paris*, 2008), significantly contributing to the exploration of such novel field recently called 'breathomic'. Recently, I am expanding my research interests addressing the attention to the environmental metabolomics dealing with marine organisms, as in the case of Fabrea salina in response to UV radiation (Marangoni* et Paris*, 2011; Marangoni* et Paris*, 2012) or the case study of Leptocylindrus danicus and Leptocylindrus aporus exposed to different temperature conditions (EMBO 2013-The molecular life of diatoms, poster presentation).
