Daniel Vogt is an ecosystem and soil ecologist who has worked in ecosystems from around the world (e.g., in the U.S. including Alaska, Central/South America, Asia). In those environments he has mostly worked in forest ecosystems, but he has also worked in deserts and grasslands. Most recently, he has worked in Bhutan and Indonesia to assess carbon sequestration and the sustainable management of natural resources. He has also worked with colleagues and students to learn more about factors that are correlated to the tipping points and thresholds of forest productivity, and how, using remote sensing and ground-truthed databases, these factors can be used to model the potential effects of disturbances, such as climate change.
