Daniela Pietra

From 2002: my scientific activity mainly focuses on the molecular mechanisms of the myeloproliferative neoplasms and it includes the participation at national and international collaborative studies. I am actively contributing to the identification and characterization of the JAK2 V617F mutation as well as other DNA lesions in the JAK/STAT signalling pathway and, recently, in CALR gene, providing useful tools to understand the molecular basis of these pathologies and developing both qualitative and quantitative assays for the molecular diagnosis of myeloproliferative neoplasms and for the monitoring of patients enrolled in clinical trials. I presented my research data in several Italian and international meetings over the years, including oral communications at ASH 2008 and ASH 2007 and poster presentation at ASH 2014 and ASH 2005. 1998-2001: as PhD-equivalent student at the Human Genetics and Genomics Unit of the Institute of Molecular Genetics – Italian National Research Council of Pavia, I was involved in the study of molecular mechanisms of DNA repair after UV damage. Particularly, I was interested in human hereditary genetic diseases associated with a defect in the nucleotide excision repair, such as Xeroderma Pigmentosum and Cockayne Syndrome.
