David M. J. Smeulders

David M. J. Smeulders received the M.Sc. degree in aerospace engineering from the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (TUD), and the Ph.D. degree in applied physics from the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands (TUE). From 1992 to 2010, he was an Assistant/Associate Professor with the Applied Earth Science and Civil Engineering Departments, TUD, where he was also the Scientific Director of the Geotechnology Laboratory from 2007 to 2010. In 1998, he was the Visiting Professor with the Laboratoire d’Acoustique de l’Université du Maine, Le Mans, France, and also the Visiting Professor with the Ben-Gurion University, Israel, in 2000, and from 2007 to 2010, he was the Guest Lecturer at ETH Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland. In 2010, he was a Full Professor with the Mechanical Engineering Department, TUE, and since 2012 he chairs the Energy Technology Group. He is a member of the Dutch national topsector board TKI Gas, Scientific Director of the Eindhoven Energy Institute EEI, and has (co)-authored more than 100 scientific publications.
