Nicola D'Ambrosio

Nicola D'Ambrosio received the graduation degree in biological sciences from the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, in 1985 with full marks cum laude discussing an experimental thesis in Ecology. Since March 1991, he has been a Researcher of plant ecology with the Department of Plant Biology, University of Naples Federico II. In November 2002, he was appointed as an Associate Professor of environmental and applied botany with the Department of Biology, University of Naples Federico II. His study and research interests include study of the ecophysiology of photosynthesis and limitations of the photosynthetic process in response to the main environmental factors. His main research includes: definition of stomatal and non-stomatal limitations of photosynthesis in response to water stress; study of the photoprotective mechanisms of the photosynthetic apparatus in conditions of excessive light absorption; effects of exposure of seeds and plants to ionizing radiation for the use of plants in bio-regenerative systems to support life in space; seed invigoration techniques by exposure to SMF; effects of exposure to MF and EMF on germination, plant development and photosynthetic activity.
