Cristina Calviño-Sampedro

I studied Biology at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia obtaining the licentiate degree in July 2011. I then began my PhD studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela, funded by a fellowship from the Provincial Council of Galicia, and framed in a project “Peptide-based therapeutic nanovaccine design: application to the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Identification of peptides derived from pre-proinsulin, S100 and MBP for use in nanovaccines” funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. After finishing my PhD (“cum laude”), I joined as a postdoctoral researcher at Clínica Universitaria de Navarra. Specifically, my research is focus on three projects: a multicenter study of CART cell therapy for the treatment of solid and haematological tumours; a first-in-human, phase I/II clinical trial with transposon-based CD19-specific CART cells in patients with CD19+ R/R ALL; and an european project based on the neuronal self-renewal by antigen-specific tolerization in multiple sclerosis reinstalling the balance between inflammation and regeneration. During all these years, I gained experience in molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, RNA), cell culture techniques), production and purification of proteins (chromatography, mass spectrometry), immunological techniques (ELISA, ELISPOT, flow cytometry, sorting, immune repertoire profiling), among others. Moreover, I became extremely familiar with (i) CAR-T production (including lentiviral vector transduction and Sleeping Beauty System), gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9 system), (ii) T cell phenotype analysis, (iii) proliferation, functional assays and anti-tumor cytotoxicity in vivo and in vivo.
