Claudia Conte

Claudia Conte received her degree in Pharmacy in 2009 with full marks at University of Napoli Federico II after a two-years research internship in the Drug Delivery laboratories of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry where she worked on the development of inhalable powders for cystic fibrosis. She obtained an European PhD in Pharmaceutical Science in 2013 supported by a fellowship in the frame of a project financed by Italian Association for Cancer Research defending a thesis entitled “Core-shell sustained release nanosystems for the intravenous delivery of anticancer drugs” under the supervision of Prof. Fabiana Quaglia. During her Ph.D. course, she was visiting scientist in the Nanobiofar group of Prof. Maria Jose Alonso at University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. After her Ph.D., she was research fellowship at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Naples “Federico II”, focusing her main activity on the development of novel formulations for oligonucleotide delivery in the lungs, supported by a project financed by the Italian Ministry of Research. Now, she is a postdoctoral International Cancer Research (iCARE)/Marie Curie Fellow within the School of Pharmacy of University of Nottingham, under the supervision of Prof. Cameron Alexander. Her project is based on the development of breathing bioresponsive nanoparticle-based dry powders for synergistic lung cancer therapy. Her research interests are mainly focused on the development of novel particulate drug delivery systems, especially both inhalable dry powders for lung diseases and nanoparticles for cancer therapy. She has authored two book chapters and 20 pubblications in peer-reviewed international journals highly rated in the ISI category Pharmacology. She is author of more than 45 presentations at national and international conferences.
