EDUCATION: Ph.D. 1994 Colorado State University, USA, Agricultural Engineering M.S. 1988 Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, Agricultural Engineering B.S. 1982 Federal Univ. of Paraná, Brazil, Civil and Cartographic Engineering PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Dr. Fraisse applied research and extension programs involve developing new knowledge and climate-based applications aimed at reducing risk and increasing the sustainability of the agricultural industry. Emphasis of his research is being given to developing methodologies for monitoring and forecasting the effects of extreme events such as drought and extreme temperatures on crop development and yield, as well as environmental conditions that favor the development of plant diseases. His extension responsibilities include increasing the climate literacy applied to agriculture of stakeholders, developing and implementing training opportunities for extension faculty and growers, producing educational materials, and developing and operating a web-based climate information and decision support system (AgroClimate.org). Dr. Fraisse is also a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Standing Committee on Services for Agriculture (SC-AGR) Expert Team in Agricultural Capacity Development.
