Dr. Christopher Paranicas is a planetary scientist whose research focuses on the magnetospheres of the outer planets, including their planetary radiation belts and satellites. His interests include the weathering of surfaces in space and how surface characteristics can be understood by optical measurements, and he is actively quantifying radiation effects on icy surfaces. Dr. Paranicas was a co-investigator on the Cassini mission to Saturn and the deputy principal investigator on the particle instrument (MIMI). He is a co-investigator on the Juno mission to Jupiter and on the infrared instrument (MISE) on the Europa Clipper mission.
