Christoph Stampfer

Christoph Stampfer (M'05) received the Dipl.-Ing. degree from Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, and the Dr.Sc. degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich), Zurich, Switzerland. During his doctoral studies, he conducted research on carbon-nanotube-based nanoelectromechanical systems with the Micro and Nanosystems Group, ETH Zurich. Since 2009, he has been a Junior Professor with the Department of Physics, RWTH Aachen, Aachen, Germany. During a postdoctoral stay with the Solid State Physics Laboratory, ETH Zurich, he focused on quantum transport in graphene nanostructures. His current research interests include quantum transport in graphene and carbon nanotubes, applications of carbon-nanotube-based nanoelectromechanical systems, electromechanical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes, and ballistic electron transport in open quantum billiards. Dr. Stampfer was the recipient of the ETH Zurich medal for his outstanding Ph.D. thesis.
