Dr. Wickens’ research program reflects a diversity of interests and includes several lines of investigation. One arm of her research program focuses on alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, and includes drug administration studies (e.g., alcohol, cannabis) with measurement of pharmacokinetics and testing of pharmacodynamic effects in mood, cognition, and simulated driving performance. Other research methods have included analyses of population-level survey data, qualitative interview studies, and evaluation of remedial programming. Together, this research has important public health implications for alcohol and drug policy and roadway legislation. Dr. Wickens has served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Road Safety Professionals (CARSP), and is a two-time recipient of CARSP’s Dr. Charles Miller Award for top-ranking research presented at their annual national conference.
