Participation in the design, development and execution of research and development projects and in associated scientific and technical activities. In particular, participation in the European scientific projects ALGARED +, ECSAFESEAFOOD, QALIBRA, SECUREFISH and SEQUID and in the Portuguese ALGAVALOR, AQUAMAX, GOODFISH, I9 + PROALGA and NEWFOOD4THOUGHT. Research carried out in this area by Carlos Cardoso has covered bioprospecting of marine molecules and bioactivities through recent analytical techniques, development of innovative products and assessment of the risk-benefit ratio associated with the consumption of these and other products already on the market. Activities in the projects: supervision of experimental work, monitoring of research activities, design and planning of experimental activities. Authorship of 91 scientific articles in various areas, from aquatic biotechnology to food toxicology, published in international scientific journals indexed with scientific referees, including journals belonging to the 1st quartile of scientific relevance.
