Cibele Teixeira Pinto received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in remote sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), São José dos Campos, Brazil, in 2011 and 2016, respectively.
Since 2017, she has been serving as an Image Engineer at the South Dakota State University Image Processing Laboratory (SDSU IP Lab), Brookings, SD, USA. In this role, her primary focus has been on the radiometric calibration of Landsat Satellite Missions Series. Concurrently, she holds a position as an Instructor for graduate courses. She conducted a comprehensive radiometric cross-calibration update for the Landsat series sensors spanning the years 1972 to 2018. This study established a consistent radiometric scale for all Landsat legacy instruments, from Landsat-1 MSS (launched in 1972) to Landsat-8 OLI (launched in 2013). Her interest in radiometric calibration dates back to 2006 during her undergraduate studies, inspired by participation in a science initiation program. Throughout her Ph.D. degree, she, along with advisors, played a pioneering role in the radiometric calibration of the China–Brazil Earth Resources Satellite 4 (CBERS-4). Her research interests encompass vicarious radiometric calibration, intercalibration of satellite instruments, and the analysis of inherent uncertainties in the calibration process.
