Bryan C. Pijanowski is Professor of Landscape Ecology in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. His research focus is coupled natural human systems with an emphasis on landscape scale research at the interface of people and the environment. His remote sensing work has included the use of satellite and airborne based sensor platforms to characterize landscape change influenced by land use and climate change. Integration of acoustic sensor information has been the basis of recent work in the area of soundscape ecology; LIDAR data provides useful information about landscape structure and inferential information about human activities and potential impacts to ecosystem services. He has worked in the U.S., Europe, Africa and Central America.
