My primary area is narrative theory, with a focus on unnatural (that is, anti-realist) fiction and drama. I also work on modernism and postmodernism, in particular the fiction of Conrad, Joyce, Woolf, Nabokov, and Beckett. I am currently working on books on Conrad's narrative practices and on the theory of character.
