Siegel Bette

Bette Siegel is currently program executive within the NASA's Human Exploration and Operations Mission Division (HEOMD) responsible for integration, planning and communication of science requirements for future exploration missions. She is also Exec. Secretary for the NASA Advisory Council's Human Exploration Committee; HEO point of contact for planetary protection for human missions; and Program Executive for the Solar System Exploration Virtual Institute (SSERVI). She has worked at NASA Headquarters since 1988 primarily as a scientist in the life sciences area. She has also held varied NASA positions involved with the planning of the International Space Station and studied sleep and circadian rhythm research at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Siegel received her B.A. in English / Chemistry from SUNY at Stony Brook in New York, her M.S. in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and her Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Her postdoctoral work was at Duke University in Durham, NC.
