He studied Biomedical Sciences at Federal Fluminense University (UFF), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and performed his PhD in translational research at the Brazilian National Cancer Institute (INCA). His studies are focused on the molecular epidemiology and genomic landscape of acute leukemia. He was postdoctoral researcher and CAPES-Humboldt fellow at Goethe-Frankfurt University (Germany), working on the establishment of an NGS-based tool for the characterization of MLL(KMT2A)-rearranged leukemias. After returning to Brazil, the post-doctorate continued studying genetic alterations of leukemia at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), where he contributed to the implementation of the first laboratory for the molecular diagnosis of leukemia in the State of Bahia (Northeast Brazil). Currently, his research at INCA focuses on the identification of genetic alterations in acute leukemia and its mechanisms of formation.
