Dr. Biju George is an experienced Marine and Oil & Gas professional with strong problem-solving and technical management skills, demonstrated working as Marine Engineer with a combined sea service of 80 months on-board ocean-going ships, Technical Superintendent, Classification Society Engineer and Integrity Engineer with extensive expertise in design approval, technical and integrity management of ships and offshore assets. He is the recipient of Exceptional Performance Awards from BP & Oceaneering in 2020 & 2019, for excellent engineering judgements on technical assurance and risk management of FPSO Operations, compliant with IMO/Class/Statutory requirements and enhancing safety of personnel, environment, and asset. Recently, he developed procedures and methodology for Drone inspections to monitor / measure Flare emissions performance – CO2/ CH4/ other GHGs, and UT gauging inspections inside tanks, whereby removing personnel working at heights and confined spaces, enhancing safety of personnel, environment, and asset. Also, he did develop procedures and methodology for underwater hull and moorings cleaning / inspection using RoV, whereby removing personnel working underwater, enhancing safety of personnel, environment, and asset. During his tenure with ABS, he was responsible for updating ABS Class Rules for novel concepts, to meet requirements for Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil/ Marine Diesel Oil, and Natural gas usage on Gas Carriers, to reduce Green House Gas emissions; and the Ballast Water Treatment Technologies to comply with IMO BWM Convention. He has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 2022, in recognition of his work on multi-objective decision making employing artificial intelligence technique of Deep Q-Reinforcement Learning, for maintenance planning of deteriorating offshore floating systems. The developed formulation enables achieving the optimal path for carrying out activities that liquidates the risks to the asset’s performance and enhances safety of personnel, environment, and asset, which supplements the Regulatory oversight requirements of the asset, to enable achieve net zero emissions. He was the Sea Your Future Coordinator of IMarEST South East England & London Home Counties, actively organising technical talks, webinars and promoting marine related events since 2010. Presently serving as Honorary Secretary, IMarEST South East England & London Home Counties since Aug 2022. Also, he is a Professional Review Interview Assessor for Engineering Council UK & IMarEST. He has organized and presided over as Chairperson and facilitated numerous Webinars and Technical talks held at IMarEST London, promoting Marine Environmental developments. Biju’s vision is to integrate his strengths on optimising technical assurance process, with the data and information solutions employing artificial intelligence, and make contribution in enhancing safety of personnel, environment, assets to enable achieve net zero emissions at the earliest.
