Dr. Banwell cares deeply about the experience of children living with multiple sclerosis and related disorders. She focuses clinical time on speaking to children and teenagers and ensuring their views are heard. Dr. Banwell has broadened her reach by authoring social media posts, brochures, and online materials for children and families, and by participating in podcasts discussing pediatric care for children with multiple sclerosis and other neuroimmune disorders.

Research holds great promise for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, with 16 different therapies available and many more expected, Dr. Banwell says.

“Multiple sclerosis is rapidly becoming a very treatable disease, although patients require expert care,” she says.
