My main interest is wheat meiosis. Particularly, understanding recombination with the aim of facilitating the transfer of interesting characters from related species. But also, understanding the effect of temperature on wheat meiosis and its subsequent effect on seed set. My interest in male reproduction is not limited to meiosis, but also to pollen development and male sterility. During my PhD I worked on the development of a new male sterility system in wheat using the cytoplasm of a wild barley (Hordeum chilense), aimed at establishing a viable wheat hybrid system production. Since then, I keep my interest on the effect of environmental stresses on male reproductive development and fertility.
