Athula Sumathipala is the Professor of Psychiatry at the Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences, Keele University, Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Emeritus Professor of Global Mental Health, Kings College London and the Hon. Director, Institute for Research and Development, in Sri Lanka. He is internationally recognized in the field of Twin research, Medically Unexplained Symptoms, Suicide, Migration/displacement, Disasters and ethics. Academic qualifications MBBS, DFM, MD, FRCPsych, UK (PhD), FSLCGP.
