Atash V. Gurbanov (further - AG) received his B.Sc. (2004), M.Sc. (2006) and Ph.D. (2012) degrees at the Baku State University (BSU). AG was researcher at BSU (2007-2016). Since, 2016 he is associate professor at BSU, on leave of absence. His PhD diploma was recognized (Equivalencia ao doutoramento em Quimica) by the Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal in 2017. AG was experienced on single-crystal X-ray diffractometry upon several months trainings at the A.N. Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds of Russian Academy of Sciences (INEOS RAS), Moscow State University and at the A.E. Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry of Kazan Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Sciences (IOPC KSC RAS) (from 2007 to 2013). As a grant holder, AG successfully completed the Project "Thermodynamic and kinetic control in the reactions of electron deficient alkynes with bis-furfurylidene dienophyls", at Russian People's Friendship University (RUDN University) (2015). Then, AG worked as a Post-Doc funded by Erasmus Mundus Euroeast program at the Centro de Química Estrutural, Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal (December 2015 - May 2016). Afterwards he became a research grantee (Bolseiro de investigação, licenciado) with a fellowship under the Project UID/QUI/00100/2013 (RD0436/CC 930204) at the CQE, IST-ID. Since 2018 AG continues his activities at CQE as a researcher (Instituto Superior Técnico DL 57/2016 and L 57/2017 Program, Contract no: IST-ID/110/2018) at the CQE. 1 Post-doc, 2 post-graduate and 2 master students were/are co-supervised by him. AG actively cooperates with different scientific groups, e.g. from Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds (INEOS), Moscow State University, RUDN University, Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry, Vladimir State Pedagogical University, Sharif University of Technology (Iran), Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Malaysia and University of Antofagasta (Chile). AG co-authored peer reviewed publications, including 113 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and 6 publications in national journals (h index = 26; 1635 citations by Web of Science, the first author and corresponding author in 20 and 13 papers, respectively), 5 reviews (one ''highly cited'' by WoS), 3 book chapters, 1 patent and 60 conference contributions. He is a reviewer of number of scientific papers for chemical and multidisciplinary journals including Materials, Crystals, J. Mol. Struct., CrystEngComm, Molecules, Arab. J. Chem., Dalton Trans. He was/is a member of local organizing committee of 7th EuCheMS Conference on Nitrogen-Ligands in Lisbon (Portugal 2018) and 1st International Conference on Noncovalent Interactions (ICNI) (Portugal 2019) and 22nd International Symposium on Homogeneous Catalysis (ISHC) (Portugal 2022). AG is Guest Editor of the special issues of Crystals 2020-2021: "Advanced Research in Halogen Bonding". The scientific interests of AG concern noncovalent interactions, crystal engineering, synthesis of coordination compounds, and application of metal complexes in catalysis.
