Barakat Assem

Assem Mahmoud BARAKAT was born in Egypt in 1981. He got a B.Sc. Chemistry in 2002, Alexandria University, Egypt. He started his carrier as a Chemist at Pharco Pharmaceutical Company then shifted into Chemistry Department, College of Science Alexandria University through a government designation program for the 20 top ranked students. In 2006, he got a fellowship for one year for young researcher at University of Genoa, Italy. Subsequently, in 2007, he got a Ph.D. Scholarship program from Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy with a joint program with ETH, Zurich, Switzerland and University of Stuttgart, Germany which awarded the degree in 2010. Barakat joined Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt as Lecturer of Organic Chemistry in late 2010, then in 2011, moved into King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as assistant Professor, then promoted into associate professor in 2017, then in Feb, 2021 he became a full Professor. He got some awards including Arab Chemistry Award in 2016 (Saudi Chemical Society Scientific Excellence Award for Youth Section), and IAAM Scientist Award, 2020, Ulrika, Sweden. Research interest focus on drug discovery; protein -protein interaction inhibitor (p53-MDM2); asymmetric synthesis; and X-ray single crystallography. He has been accomplished more than 230 articles and 3 patents. Supervised 6 Master and 4 PhD students up to now.
