Ari-Matti Harri

Ari-Matti Harri received the M.S. and D.Sc. (Tech.) degrees from the Helsinki University of Technology, Espoo, Finland, in 1986 and 2005, respectively. He was the Leader of Managing Complex International Space Programs with large groups of scientists with various backgrounds such as the european union (EU)/Probabilistic Nowcasting of Winter Weather for Airports (PNOWWA) from 2016 to 2019, the EU/Re-entry: Inflatable Technology Development in Russian Collaboration (RITD) from 2010 to 2014, the EU/BALTRAD+ from 2011 to 2014, the Netlander Mars Program from 1997 to 2001, the PPI/HUYGENS Instrument for Saturns Moon Titan from 1989 to 2005, and the ongoing METNET Atmospheric Science Mission to Mars. He is the Head of the Space Research and Observation Technologies, Finnish Meteorological Institute, Helsinki, Finland, with approximately 60 staff and also the Science Lead of the recent atmospheric pressure and humidity observations with the NASA Mars Science Laboratory. He has authored or coauthored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. He has given more than 100 conference presentations and given tens of television (TV) and radio interviews as well as other public presentations to popularize science results. He has wide range of experience in the field of radar meteorological applications, space science, Earth observation investigations and planetary exploration focusing on space applications, radar meteorology, and planetary atmospheric research. Dr. Harri has been a member of the European Space Agency (ESA) Advisory Boards [Solar System and Exploration Working Group (SSEWG), Future Technology Advisory Panel (FTAP)] and the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) Space Exploration Group. He is the Executive Editor of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) Geoscientific Instrumentation, Methods and Data Systems (GIs) Journal.
