Antonio Palermo

Antonio Palermo received the civil engineering degree from the University of Bologna in 2011, the M.Sc. degree in earthquake engineering from Imperial College, U.K., in 2013, and the Ph.D. degree in structural engineering from the University of Bologna in 2017. In 2018, he joined as a Cecil and Sally Drinkward Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, California Institute of Technology. He is a Senior Assistant Professor (fixed-term) with the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, University of Bologna. His research interests lie at the intersection between solid mechanics, applied physics, and civil engineering with the aim of designing novel materials and structures for elastic wave propagation control. He was a recipient of the “Claudio Bonivento Thesis Prize for Research and Technological Innovation-ISA” in 2018 and the “Medaglia Leonardo Da Vinci-MIUR” in 2019.
