Dr Anthony Sadler is an expert in innate immunity. After completing his early research training in microbial genetics at the University of Canterbury and virology at the University of Otago (New Zealand), he travelled to the USA where he conducted postdoctoral research into host immune responses to viral pathogens at the Learner Research Institute. In 2006, Dr Sadler relocated to Australia, where he took up a position as a Senior Research Fellow, then subsequently as a Laboratory Head within the Centre for Innate Immunity and Infectious Diseases at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. His research group investigates antiviral immunity and innate immune responses that drive inflammation. Dr Sadler’s research aims to characterise infection induced mechanisms that cause inflammation, in order to identify strategies to mitigate pathogenesis and to develop therapies against ensuing disease.
