Research Summary
At the UCL Institute for Women's Health I lead the Prenatal Cell and Gene Therapy Group. The aim of the research is to develop prenatal treatment of severe and life-threatening disorders, and to investigate their efficacy, safety and consider ethical issues. Developments: new ultrasound guided injection techniques to delivery therapy to the fetus before birth; maternal VEGF gene therapy to treat fetal growth restriction; fetal stem cell transplantation; new imaging for fetal surgery and fetal diagnosis. My clinical research is on prediction and prevention of preterm birth, management of fetal growth restriction, fetal therapy and fetal surgery.
