个人简介
Andrew J. Petruska received the dual B.S. degrees in mechanical
engineering and physics and the M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA,
USA, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree from University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, USA, in 2014.
For the next four years, he was a Design Engineer with the rocket motor industry. In 2010 he enrolled with
University of Utah and received an NSF IGERT Fellowship to study noncontact magnetic manipulation. His doctoral
research culminated in the development of the first real-time reconfigurable magnetic manipulation system and the
invention of its main component—the Omnimagnet. After completing the Ph.D. degree, he joined the Multiscale
Robotics Laboratory, ETH Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland, where he is currently investigating the magnetic
manipulation of continuum devices.
