Andrea Rossi

Dr. Andrea Rossi is head (Principal Investigator) of the Genome Engineering and Model Development lab (GEMD) at the IUF – Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine, in Düsseldorf, Germany. His lab uses iPSCs derived organoids and genome engineering to model human diseases and investigate genetic compensation. Dr. Rossi received his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Bari where he worked in Antonio Frigeri’s lab. As a post-doctoral fellow, Rossi moved to Alan Verkman’s lab at the University of California San Francisco where he started working on human diseases and got interested in genetic compensation. Dr. Rossi then moved to Didier Stainier’s lab at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (MPI-HLR), in Bad Nauheim, where he among few other scientists described a new genetic compensation mechanism named transcriptional adaptation.
