Bio
There is a growing need for collaborative research and teaching that addresses contemporary social and environmental challenges. I contribute to this change across my teaching and research, through sharing knowledge and engaging in conversations with the public and academy. I am a Lecturer in Environmental Social Science at the University of Melbourne (School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences), with an international background in social change and environmental challenges.
In my research, I pursue topics including (but not exclusively): social ecological landscape change, collaborative research practice, bushfire planning and management. I am also working with Traditional Owners to explore knowledge sharing of healthy Country.
I coordinate two subjects at the University of Melbourne: Sustainable Landscapes (ENST90043) and Building Resilient Settlements (ABPL90320). In Sustainable Landscapes, students explore the world through social ecological systems thinking and social theory, drawing on a diverse array of guest lecturers and field-based learning to enhance the base lecturing. Building Resilient Settlements engages with social ecological systems thinking to think critically about the planning and management for resilience.
I am passionate about exchanging knowledge with and learning from members of the public, community organisations and students. I regularly give public guest lectures on my work and teach into post-graduate and undergraduate courses at the University of Melbourne.
