Andre Leitao

I received my PhD from The University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. There, I studied the biophysics of α-synuclein aggregation and molecular interactions in Parkinson’s disease, using single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy on cell-free models. During my Postdoctoral work I expanded to cellular and mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases, using primary and immortalized neuronal cultures. My work has shown that α-synuclein is a co-adjuvant of pathology in Alzheimer's Disease.
