Ana Torres is a Psychologist, Assistant Professor at the University of Beira Interior. She is a doctorate-integrated member at the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS-UA), Department of Education and Psychology, University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology in 2014, at the University of Aveiro, with praise. She received her Master’s Degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto, with Very Good Unanimously. She joined his 1st research project at the University of Aveiro (UA) between 2005 and 2008, in the Department of Communication and Arts, with European Project INSCAPE - Interactive Storytelling for Creative People (EC FP6 RTD contract IST-2004-004150). Her Master’s thesis was in a related field, gerontechnology. Later, from 2011 to 2014, she joined, as a team member the project SEDUCE: Use of technologically mediated communication and information in web ecologies by senior citizens (Ref FCT: PTDC / CCI-COM / 111711/2009), performed in the same department of UA. She is a co-author of registered patents developed in this field. In 2009 she earned a Ph.D. scholarship (Ref: SFRH/BD/44296/2008). She was dedicated for 4 years to the study of “Group therapy in cancer disease: Contributions to the promotion of women's mental health”. She presented and published various national and international works and she was distinguished with scientific awards in the psycho-oncology field. She is vice president of the Scientific Committee of the social bodies of the Portuguese Academy of Psycho-Oncology. She belongs to the team management of the Project “Nursing Relational Laboratory: A pedagogical, dialogical and critical project”, funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Process No. 138174), developed in ESSNorteCVP, during 2015 to 2016 period. She had other collaborations at funded projects, as the following: - Collaboration as Trainer/Clinical Psychologist - Project "The Role of home monitoring in the adherence of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease to long-term rehabilitation" (SFRH/BD/81328/2011), UA, Portugal; Collaboration as Psychologist – Project Relational Dimensions of Childhood and Emotional and Academic Adjustment: A Longitudinal Study with Elementary School Children, partially supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (ref. No. 56575), FPCE UC, Portugal. She has experience in Master thesis orientation and doctoral thesis co-orientation. She was the Head of the Research and Development Office (GID) from 2015 to 2017, and she was the Head of the ESSNorteCVP Office of Student Support and Active Life Insertion (GAEIVA), from 2014 to 2021. Her main research areas of interest are the following: Psycho-oncology; Health psychology; clinical communication; innovative health education strategies; group intervention; gerontechnology; video Games; storytelling.
