ANA C.M. FERREIRA (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Technologies at Lusíada Norte University (Vila Nova de Famalicão Campus) and a researcher at ALGORITMI and MEtRICs centers, both research units from the School of Engineering, University of Minho.
She is a Post-Doc Researcher and collaborator member at ALGORITMI Centre, within the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) research line, Ergonomics & Human Factors Group (EHF). Additionally, she is also an integrated member of MEtRICs - Mechanical Engineering and Resource Sustainability Center. Her current research project is entitled "Optimization of Innovative CHP Systems driven by Renewable Energy Technologies", supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) through the grant SFRH/BPD/121446/2016.
She was enrolled at the University of Minho in 2004, when started to study Biomedical Engineering. In 2009, after concluding her master degree (MSc) in Biomaterials Rehabilitation and Biomechanics, she initiated her research in the fields of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, being funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology through a PhD grant (between 2010 and 2014) and more recently by a Post-doctoral funding. Between 2010 and 2014, she actively participated as a member of Women in Engineering – Portugal (WIE-P), an affinity group of IEEE association. Regarding her Professional & Academic Experience, between 2014 and 2015 she was a fellow researcher at a consortium between University of Minho and the BOSCH Multimedia Car Service, within the project "HMIEXCEL - Advanced for Automotive multimedia solutions" and the project "iFACTORY/CQPCB04/2015". Between 2011 and 2014, she lectured as Invited Assistant professor at both the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) and at the Department of Production and Systems (DPS) at the School of Engineering of University of Minho.
She has been involved in several research areas including the following:
A) Energy conversion and management;
B) Optimization of renewable cogeneration systems;
C) Industrial cost analysis;
D) Study of heat transfer problems for high complexity PCB assembly;
E) Applications of Lean Management and Ergonomics in industrial contexts.
