Chemerin is known to contribute to systemic endothelial dysfunction and to altered vascular tone promoting vasoconstriction and systemic hypertension. Chemerin also contributes to systemic vascular remodeling. Endothelial dysfunction, vascular remodeling and inflammation are the three main actors implicated in the pathogenesis of PAH. Chemerin could play a role in the maintenance of pulmonary vascular homeostasis (structure, tone and vasoreactivity) and in the pathogenesis of PH.
