A. Polasek

Alexander Polasek received the M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees in metallurgical and materials engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He developed part of his doctoral thesis at the former Max-Planck-Institut für Metallforschung, Stuttgart, Germany. Since 2002, he has been working with CEPEL (Electrical Energy Research Center), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he is in charge of the Laboratory of Advanced Ceramics and projects in the fields of applied superconductivity and nanotechnology. He also worked in P&D of advanced batteries for energy storage. Dr. Polasek is member of the IEEE Council on Superconductivity and of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE).
