Aaron M. Johnson, M.M., Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist and singing voice specialist at the NYU Voice Center, specializing in voice habilitation and rehabilitation to prevent and treat voice disorders in performing artists. His research laboratory employs novel translational methods to examine the effects of vocal training on laryngeal neuromuscular mechanisms in the aging larynx. Both his clinical and research interests stem from his previous decade-long career as a professional classical singer and teacher of singing in the Chicago area. He holds degrees in vocal performance from Northwestern University, a certificate in Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech, and earned his research doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an active member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Voice Foundation, and is a charter member of the Pan-American Vocology Association.
