Dr. Hinnebusch has served on the editorial boards of Genetics, Microbiological Reviews, Molecular Microbiology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Molecular & Cellular Biology, and is currently a member of the editorial boards of Genes & Development, eLife, and Genetics. He was co-organizer of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Meeting on Translational Control from 2000 to 2010. He has published more than 220 original research articles in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 review articles and book chapters pertaining to his field of research. In 1994 he was named Maryland's Outstanding Young Scientist and was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. In 2009 he was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and in 2015 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
