Adel Merabet (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Eng. degree in automatic from the University of Annaba, Annaba, Algeria, in 1998, the M.Sc. degree in automatic and applied computer from Ecole Centrale de Nantes, Nantes, France, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, Saguenay, QC, Canada, in 2007. In 2009, he joined Saint Mary's University, Halifax, NS, Canada, where he is currently an Associate Professor with the Division of Engineering. During 2016–2017, he was a Visiting Academic with the Department of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering, University of Sharjah, Sharjah, UAE. In 2021, he was a Visiting Research Scientist with Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. His research interests include renewable energy conversion systems, energy management, advanced control, electric drives, artificial intelligence, and smart grid. In 2019, he was the recipient of the Tan Chin Tuan Exchange Fellowship in Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
