Gordon has published more than 500 papers in journals and books. He was previously on the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Pharmacology and a member of the British Heart Foundation Project Grants Committee. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Translational Metabolic Syndrome Research. His work is focussed on the basic mechanisms underpinning cardiovascular disease, including the role of growth factors and cytokines. He has been Chief, or Principal Investigator on several clinical trials and has received funding from the British Heart Foundation, Medical Research Council, Wellcome Trust and BBSRC. He holds Visiting Chairs at the Universities of Surrey, Keele, Tehran and Mashhad.
