Anne-Emilie Decleves

Prof. Declèves was a pioneer in the description of the role of AMPK dysfunction in obesity-induced proximal tubule dysfunctions. During her postdoc research at the Center for Renal Translational Medicine at UCSD (Pr. K. Sharma), Pr. Declèves was engaged in advanced research training in the pathogenesis of kidney disease in diabetes and obesity, mainly in studying early glomerular disease, using both in vivo and in vitro (mesangial cells and podocytes) model. Since 2015, back in Belgium, Declèves’s Lab has developed a strong expertise in the field of metabolic diseases with a particular interest in mitochondrial impairments. The experimental approach combines biochemistry and bioenergetics, molecular biology, and physiopathology. Robust methods and analysis to study mitochondrial parameters and gene expression have been set up in the Laboratory of Metabolic and Molecular Biochemistry.
