A. R. Clark

Alan Robert Clark (S'88–M'99) was born in Derby, U.K., June 18, 1964. He received the B.Sc. degree and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1987 and 1993, respectively. From 1983 to 1987, he was with Unilever in Johannesburg, implementing several industrial control projects. In 1988 in joined the University of the Witwatersrand, Department of Electrical Engineering as a Professional Assistant. He also worked halftime developing antennas in the HF/VHF/UHF band for an industrial company. In January 1990, he was appointed lecturer with the University of the Witwatersrand, and in January 2000, was promoted to Senior Lecturer. Currently, he lectures a first course in Electronics in the second year, and a first course in Electromagnetics in the third year of study. He has authored eight journal articles in journals accredited by the Department of Education, two refereed conference publications, and nine other conference publications. His research interests include computational electromagnetics, with particular emphasis on hybrid method-of-moments/geometric theory of diffraction codes; general antenna design, simulation and measurement techniques; modeling of electromagnetic propagation in conductive media. Dr. Clark is a registered Professional Engineer, a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers, an Associate Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (UK), and a member of the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (USA).
