Peter Ade

Peter A. R. Ade received the B.Sc. degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree from the Queen Mary College, University of London, London, U.K., in 1969 and 1973, respectively. From 1973 to 1976, he was a Science Research Council Fellow and held a post at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Tucson, AZ, USA, where he was involved in the development of bolometric receivers for submillimeter astronomy. In 1976, he joined the Queen Mary College as a Lecturer and was promoted to a Reader in 1986 and then a Professor in 1994. In 2001, he moved his Research Group to the School of Physics and Astronomy, Cardiff University, Cardiff, U.K. He was involved in several astronomical satellite instruments (ISO, Cassini, Spitzer, Planck-HFI, and Herschel-Spire) and many suborbital instruments at sub-millimeter wavelengths. His work has been centered on the development of detectors and quasi-optical components at sub-millimeter wavelengths. Mr. Ade received the Jackson Gwilt Medal from the Royal Astronomical Society and a Public Service Medal from NASA.
