个人简介
David Newill-Smith started at JPL in August of 2014. He graduated with honors from Princeton University in June 2014 and received his B.S.E in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering as well as a Certificate in Robotics and Intelligent Systems. His studies focused on mechanical design, robotics, controls, and space system design. His undergraduate thesis involved the design and testing of a novel surface attachment mechanism for asteroid exploratory missions employing microspine technology. David is currently the lead Systems Engineer for the COLDArm project. Prior to that, he worked for seven years developing the Sample Caching Subsystem for Mars 2020's Perseverance rover, from the initial design phase through to surface operations. During that time, he served as the Cognizant Engineer in charge of delivering the Bit Holders and the lead Systems Engineer in charge of delivering the Bit Exchange function.
