个人简介
James Planey received the B.A. degree in psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL, USA, in 2006, and the M.S. degree in science education and the Ph.D. degree in curriculum and instruction, exploring immersive VR drawing for science concept representation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, IL, USA, in 2012 and 2023, respectively.
He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher and a Science Education Design Lead with the Molecule Maker Lab Institute, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has previous experiences as a high school Science Teacher, Technology Integration Coach, Curriculum Designer, and informal Nature Educator. He is interested in how immersive technologies, such as VR and AR can be meaningfully integrated into science classroom instruction to support student learning as they engage with spatially complex content.
Dr. Planey is a member of the International Society of the Learning Sciences, the National Science Teaching Association, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Association for Research in Science Teaching.
