I am currently working with structural/functional studies of the proteins involved in lipid metabolism and lipid hydrolysis. Proteins involved in those reactions called Lipases that break down fats, control the accessibility of lipids to produce energy and play a key role in multiple biological processes. Malfunction of lipases and their regulation cause pathological conditions, like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and other lipid metabolism disorders.
