Brian C Chirombo

Dr. Brian Chirombo is the Head of Mission and Country Representative for Rwanda. He manages core areas pertaining to WHO work and provides leadership in the following key functional areas: Convening, representation, partnership and advocacy; Cooperation, Policy Advice and Dialogue; and Administration and management. He has more 30 years Public Health experience leading, managing and implementing development and cooperation programs at national, regional and international levels. He has extensive experience working with Governments, Academia, International NGOs and the United Nations in many countries. His previous work experience includes serving as WHO South Africa Coordinator for the Communicable Disease and Health Emergencies Cluster as well as HIV/STI/Hepatitis Team Leader in WHO South Africa (2017-221); WHO Kenya as Coordinator for the Communicable Disease and Health Emergency Cluster and HIV/STI/Hepatitis Team Lead; WHO AFRO Team Leader for Eastern and Southern Africa; WHO HQ (Geneva) HIV Technical Support Team Leader; Malawi Save the Children (US) Health Program Manager for HIV, Maternal and Child Health; GIZ Coordinator for Health Systems Research on Reproductive Health for Eastern and South Africa; Zimbabwe MPH Field Training Coordinator at the University of Zimbabwe; DMO and Medical Superintendent, Kwekwe, Zimbabwe. Dr Chirombo is Zimbabwean, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Public Health (double major in Epidemiology and Statistics) from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia, USA.
