Ioannis Mamoutos is a physical oceanographer currently working as a research associate in Laboratory of Physical and Chemical Oceanography (LPCO) at Department of Marine Sciences (University of the Aegean, Lesvos, Greece). His main research interest is ocean modeling, focused both in coastal and region scale simulations, using modern hydrodynamic models (i.e. ROMS) and advanced approaches such as variational data assimilation methods. He has participated in 8 national (Greek) and European research projects as a researcher (assistant and associate) and currently develops and supports LPCO operational models infrastructure (https://www.mar.aegean.gr/index.php?lang=en&pg=2.5.6.30).
