He specializes in complex cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). HIPEC entails delivering high-dose heated chemotherapy in the operating room after surgical removal of visible disease and is effective in different types of cancers.Dr. Eng has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals including Cancer Discovery, Cancer, British Journal of Cancer, and JAMA Surgery. He has received both extramural and intramural funding for his research, which centers on better understanding the molecular and immunologic characteristics of peritoneal tumors. His research aims to develop innovative therapies for metastatic disease and optimize outcomes and care in cancer patients. He has presented his work nationally and internationally, and he has served as a principal investigator or co-investigator on multiple clinical trials.
