Izudi Jonathan

Jonathan Izudi is a public health specialist and currently GloCal Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Global Health at the University of California Global Health Institute, San Francisco, CA, USA. He was Fogarty D43 Postdoctoral Research Fellow in HIV and co-infections at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Makerere University, and a 2021 Impact Evaluation Fellow of the East African Social Sciences Translation Collaborative (EASST) at the Center for Effective Global Action, University of California, Berkeley, USA. He researches TB, HIV, and maternal health. His methodological and statistical expertise is in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, randomized and non-randomized experimental designs, and the application of advanced statistical methods for causal inference and impact evaluation. He received the 2022 Charles Boucher Award for the highest scoring scientific abstract at the 16th INTEREST International Conference on HIV treatment, pathogenesis, and prevention research in low-resource settings and consequently emerged the best presenter. He received his Ph.D. in Public Health from Mbarara University of Science and Technology as a DAAD Scholar under the mentorship of Dr. Francis Bajunirwe and Dr. Imelda K. Tamwesigire. His doctoral research focused on the completion of sputum smear monitoring and treatment success among people with tuberculosis in rural eastern Uganda and led to 9 first-author publications.
