I am working towards scientific excellence and leadership in the area of plant health to contribute to food and nutritional security, scientific capacity building and positive human development outcomes. I use my expertise in molecular biology to characterise plant-vector-pathogen, plant-pathogen and plant-parasitic plant interactions to generate information and tools that could be used to underpin new methods of breeding for crop resistance. I actively participate in research capacity building of African scientists by direct supervision of projects to tackle plant health challenges in smallholder farms in Sub Saharan Africa.
